visual literacy

Visual literacy is something that has always interested me and I love exercising my skills in it. I am in a visual literacy class right now and I would say it is my hardest class. this is unusual because normally classes that have something to do with the arts are more laid back, but I need a nap after every one of these classes! visual literacy is a beautiful thing because it can explore different and new meanings that art shows that the artist may have not even realized. some of the things that are shown I'm my visual art class are very hard to see as art. anything can be art when a perception is changed or read into!

challenges & experiences at college

this is supposed to be a week 3 blog post, but if I'm being honest I was very confused about this whole blogging thing, and its a little past week 3, I've been trying to make the blog posts up but my answers might be different now that its more weeks in some challenges I have faced in college is knowing when everything has to get done because the teachers in college aren't as self-explanatory as the high school teachers. highschool teachers practically give an outline of everything but college teachers kind of reinforce a healthy habit of checking anywhere and everywhere for assignments that need to be done being thrown into a new environment with all different friends can always be a challenge but at college, I haven't found it to be as bad! there are so many different personalities all around that it's hard to not find one that matches yours! the cheer team at north central has been a really good community to be a part of and I'm very grateful for that!

challenges & experiences with the Microtheme

My challenges and experiences with the Microtheme varied between making sure it was considered a "microtheme" and trying not to write about how to solve the problem in my paper. At first, my rough draft consisted of a lot of phrasing in the first person, and at times it started to sound like one big page of complaining.  I did my microtheme paper on how social media is making us less social and trying to write a paper on something so obvious made it a little hard for me because it felt like it was already common knowledge. I feel very strongly about this topic and I'm my rough draft was shown by the amount of first-person uses I'm writing this blog post very late because I did not know where to find the blog topics so I just assumed we didn't have any, but now I have a lot of blogging to catch up on!

Week 2 Assignment

WEEK 2  Q: post your current favorite image from your smartphone and write why you like it A: My current favorite image on my smartphone is a very recent picture. It was taken a few days after i moved into my college dorm and gained full independence over my choices!  It was around 4:00 pm when my roommate saw that one of our favorite bands, the Lumineers, were playing in Milwaukee, 2 hours away. normally, this information would be useless because we were under our parents roofs and talking them into it would have taken too long, but this was different. we were able to decide for ourselves that we were going to go and it felt awesome. this picture was taken after the concert and i feel that it radiates pure joy and happiness. in the photo, the bright colors above us pop and amplify the positive energy. the people behiemd us aere moving, but we are stopped, enjoying the moment with big smiles.
